Some of you may be asking, why start a blog about farmers and ranchers?  Well, solid question.  I guess it started when Amanda and I discussed traveling around Kansas and taking portraits of people.  But we come from farming communities, and while I wanted to travel around and take photos of random Kansans, I found myself on more than one occasion, defending the American Farmer/Rancher.  I find farming and ranching to be fascinating occupations, and more than that, lifestyles.  Now, I am a transplant from Columbia, MO so there is much that I do not know about these lifestyles.  The more that I am immersed in the lifestyle, the more I have learned to love it, and defend it, from those who are not so different from me, before moving to this small tight knit community in the middle of nowhere.  The town that most country songs are written about I'm pretty sure, or at least I like to think they are.  Below I have included a photo of my town's main street.  I am hesitant to tell everyone what town it is because we don't need a bunch of outsiders like I was, trying to come and live here, like I did.  All joking aside, it is exactly how it looks, a small, quaint town with not even one stoplight, the amazing town I get to call home.  Amanda and I are going to embark on this journey of photographing farmers and ranchers, sharing some things about each family and place that we visit.  We hope that you will join us on our adventure, and that maybe we will all learn something along the way.  Thank you for coming along and we hope you enjoy the photos and stories, because they all mean something special to both of us.
